What this BaZi reference calculates

The calculator maps one browser-local civil date and time to four sexagenary labels: year, month, day and hour. It also shows the animal attached to the reference year. It is a transparent cultural lookup, not a personal reading.

Worked example

Rules used by this page

The year changes at the fixed February 4 boundary. Month pillars change on fixed approximate solar-term dates. The day follows a Julian-day-based 60-day cycle and changes at local civil midnight. The hour uses the familiar two-hour branches: Zi is 23:00–00:59, Chou is 01:00–02:59, continuing through Hai at 21:00–22:59.

Input and privacy

Use the unambiguous date-and-time picker. Impossible civil dates are rejected. Processing stays in the current browser; the page does not ask for a name, place or account.

Important limitations

• The entered wall time is interpreted in the browser’s local time zone.
• There is no longitude, true-solar-time or historical time-zone correction.
• Fixed boundary dates can differ from charts based on the exact solar-term instant.
• The day changes at civil midnight; this page does not apply a late-Zi next-day convention.

Frequently asked questions

Why can another BaZi calculator differ?

Check its solar-term instant, time zone, longitude correction and treatment of 23:00–00:59. A difference near a boundary does not necessarily mean the same convention was used.

Is this suitable for decisions?
